The Pleasure is all mine |
A mix of pleasure and, erm, pleasure. |
I feel like I am constantly cringing and I am not a grammar Nazi at all.
My boss just said to her daughter: ”Was you going to stop at the store?”
That’s probably the most common thing people around here say.
“Was you…”
I just don’t get it. When did anyone ever learn that forming a sentence like that was okay?
Would people write in the same form? I’m from Yorkshire, where phrases starting ‘it were’ are common in speech, but it would never happen when writing.
I’m a writer by trade, so it’s always interested me that many things are different when written instead of spoken. I hope my children will continue this oddity!
I wish wish wish some of my followers would do this!
